I Want The Tilting Wheelchair Installed
Health September 15th, 2009When we take my son to the doctors or the dentist, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get him out of his wheelchair into the exam chair. When he became paralyzed five years ago, he was only twelve years old but now that he just turned seventeen, his size and weight have become an issue when it comes to lifting him. I have had to have sometimes three nurses, the doctor and myself to lift him out of the wheelchair.
Last week, while I was surfing the internet, I discovered a company that makes a device that allows you to hook a wheelchair to it and then you can tilt it back for exams where you need the patient to be a little more in the horizontal position. I do not know if our doctor knows about this device or not, but I think that a tilting wheelchair could be the answer to all of our prayers. I am thinking of requesting the doctor look into having one of these devices installed in his office. I know that my son is not his only wheelchair bound patient.
If my doctor does not want to move forward with installing a tilting wheelchair device, then I think I will have to find a new doctor who is. This device could change the doctor experience for all wheelchair bound patients.
